Firstly, we would like to tell a little about ourselves, the town in which we live, our Bulldogs and how our affix BULLORCHARDS came about.

Hi, my name is Maria, I live with my partner Paul, in Chard,in Somerset along with my three sons Lee, Ross and Zachary.

And of course our five beloved bulldogs,Poppy,Treacle,Scrumpy,Bumble and Daisy, whom all live in our home. They are our family. So as you can imagine, there is never a dull moment, but when I get the occasional spare moment (which doesn't happen often) I have again started to pursue my passion for painting, tapestry and embroidery, but the love and passion I have for this wonderful breed, means, that these day, I am only interested in painting, transferring on to tapestry and embroidery the Bulldog. My first ever oil painting of the bulldog is that of our Treacle, which can be seen on the girls page along with another of our Poppy, which is still under construction. I hope you like them and feel I have done our girls justice.

Chard, the town in which we live, is a lovely market town in the county of Somerset,England. It nestles in a corner of South Somerset between Dorset and Devon.Chard has a population of around 12,000 and, at an altitude of 1212metres,is the highest town in Somerset. The town is surrounded by beautiful countryside and has a wealth of lovely places to visit for all the family. It is just a short trip to the coastal beaches of Lyme Regis,Seaton and Charmouth, where our dogs love nothing more than to run, and play and get their feet wet.

Chard claims to be the birthplace of aviation, as it was here in 1848,in a disused lace factory in Chard, that the Victorian aeronautical pioneer John Stringfellow (1799-1883) first demonstrated that engine-powered flight was possible, with a 10 foot, steam-driven flying machine. A bronze model of that first primitive aircraft stands in the town centre, along side the main focal building in Chard,The Guildhall with its town clock.

At the begin of 2003 we started our search for a bulldog to join our family and in October that year we finally found the little girl we were searching for. She was Ringablok Happy Go Lucky from Anne and Bill Conner at the Ringablok Kennels in Carmarthenshire,to them we would like to say many thanks for allowing us to have such a wonderful little lady, our POPPY.

But I think a small word of warning is needed at this point. When you have the pleasure in owning a bulldog, the infectious nature of this wonderful breed, will mean that in no time at all, you will probably want to welcome another in to your home (warning the bulldog bug will bite). My excuse to Paul was ,Poppy needed a companion, but funnily enough, he needed no persuading ( the bulldog bug had bitten him too ).So we again searched long and hard to find the right little girl for us and of course for Poppy. She was Midyel Cracklin Rose from Thierry Silver in Northants, again we would like to thank Thierry for allowing us the pleasure of owning such a wonderful girl, our TREACLE. I can't say little, as she is  not so little any more.

But it didn't stop there. Having three grown up sons, who adore our bitches, but who where also desperate to have a male bulldog (I think it's a boy thing, or so I thought !),we started our search again. This time our travels took us to Blackpool where we found Rinklefaces Shere-Khan from Brian and Laura Cockell,we again would like to thank them, for not only fulfilling our boys dreams, but all our dreams, he is a joy, our SCRUMPY

Towards the end of 2005 we thought it would be nice for our girls, given their excellent health and breed standard, to have their first litters, in the coming year 2006,with the intention of keeping one of their daughters. So our adventure began, Firstly we thought, it would be nice to have our own affix, to enable us to put our own name to the puppies that our girls would be bringing into this world. So we tried to come up with a name that incorporated, our town of Chard, our county of Somerset and what it is famous for.Somerset is famous for its Cider making or better known as Scrumpy ( hence the name of our stud dog to be)Apples are needed to make cider, apples come from ORCHARDS, orchard has CHARD in it, the town where we live (and the surrounding area of Chard is renowned for its apple orchards and cider. Hundreds of tonnes of apples are pressed every year by local producers) and as for BULL, well that's obvious.

The affix BULLORCHARDS was formed and granted to us by The Kennel Club.If our girls were blessed with puppies, we could name them after apples used for the making of SCRUMPY CIDER.The list is endless.

We then spent a lot of time studying what was required from us as a family, to insure only the best for our girls. This lead us to Andrew and Mandy Brain and family of Celticpride Bulldogs,to whom we are truly grateful. Their wealth of knowledge, kindness (not only to us but the way in which our girls were handled), and support, has been and continues to be priceless. Many, many thanks to you all.

On the 17th September 2006 Treacle was blessed with  her first litter, closely followed by Poppys first litter four days later 21st September 2006.

Our journey had truly began.
